When is this?

I was going to do this past last Wednesday. I decided to take a break from writing and everything else except for my day works. It has been a relaxing few days but as I have seen, no one has seen this blog that whole time anyway. I wonder sometimes if I should even continue.

I know I don’t talk much about beer anymore. It’s not a great part of my life. I love trying new craft beers still. I have a few beers I will always go for if given the chance. However I feel much better having a single beer now and then or only on weekends. Maybe it’s a health thing. I don’t drink alcohol (try to at least) within three hours of when I plan on heading to bed. I find, through my Fitbit, that my snoring is improving as well as my sleep overall.

I did have a White Russian recently and it was so easy to just stick to that one cocktail. Is up this a continuing trend for me. I kind of hope so.

As for Redbubble, I have also taken a break from the daily posting on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. It was getting tiring and there were only views—no sales. I am looking right now to see if there is any action outside of social media. The lag in data is just showing up and it seems a huge difference. I was averaging 30 to 50 views a day with most of them being social. I’m still getting more direct and organic now than when I started print on demand.

This break is also a chance to get away from the frustration. It isn’t really since the shop is constantly in the back of my mind.

Below are a few recent designs I put up over the last few days though if anyone is interested. I guess I need to get back into posting.

Something

Monday After the Refresh

And Stranger Things. And beer.

I was thinking about lots of things. The new Obi Wan Series. The fourth (and last?) season of Stranger Things. The upcoming week. A simple cup of coffee outside in the morning. I’m not feeling well so everything is jumbled and will wait until my head clears. Until then, enjoy the following designs.

No Spoilers for This One

It was…

Fun. I won’t say much beyond that until sufficient time has past and the story develops more. Obi Wan is a show filling in blanks left by Lucas when he wrote the original Star Wars movie a long time ago in a headspace far away. Some may not like these stories as messing too much with canon. I can see that some may not want their own imagined life of Kenobi altered. A powerful aspect of fiction is how we fill in the blanks ourselves when details are left out on purpose or not.

With an open mind this is a great show starting out. We’ll see as it progresses but I am optimistic. A can of Yona Yona Ale went well with the experience as well.

And with that the week is at an end. Time for some online conversations and relaxation. Please enjoy the new Redbubble designs below.

Humpday and Obi Wan is Almost Here

Pardon the fanboying but Disney+’s new Series will be out in a few days. I’m excited. Now that that is over, let’s get on with it.

It’s been so busy this week teaching elementary school kids. I am fascinated though with one particular part of their self introductions. When they talk about what they don’t like, it’s never some other people or country. It’s always things like eggplant or homework. It’s a bit general but it seems hatred’s are learned and so can be hopefully unlearned.

As usual, here is Redbubble. I’ll be back after the first episode of Obi Wan on Friday. Keeping a very open mind on this one.

Weekend Update with Kansaiclikker

Awesome weekend! So much done! Where shall I start?

Saturday Food! On the first date night in uncounted years my wife and I joined a local food event in downtown Itami. It’s nice and close so we could enjoy it fully. This Night Bar event consisted of over 40 bars and restaurants offering a small signature dish and beverage for a ticket that you could buy in advance or in the plaza halfway between JR Itami and Hankyu Itami stations. With people slowly going out more, the NightBar was putting the spotlight on all the excellent places around there.

The food was tasty and gorgeous. I will definitely be heading down in the future more often with friends for longer samplings of more menus and drinks. If you’re in the area, try some of the small restaurants instead of going to a more familiar place in the nearby Aeon Mall.

Redbubble was fun this weekend when I had time. Please check out the new designs!

Beer Will Arrive Shortly

One more week until Obi Wan! There will be beer tomorrow and a longer post on Monday to discuss it. This week was majorly fun but majorly exhausting. Tonight is this, some family stuff and a few bits of the new season of Love, Death, and Robots on Netflix.

Midweek Party People

Midweek. No party. Shouting students and deafening stares though. It’s kind of fun though.

Short and sweet but here is the latest from Redbubble.

Art and Identity

This isn’t a grand thesis on how art and identity are intertwined. This isn’t about art as expression of identity. My experience this weekend with art and the friends involved left me with some insights on what we see as identity.

An artist friend and I went to a gallery to enjoy another friend’s art and I could also introduce the two artists. We talked; we discussed the different media and influences; we settled on talking about what it is to be an artist.

Are you an artist if you do more than just art of one kind? Are you a painter who has an interest in sculpture? If so, does that make you less of a painter? I say no.

Do you write or design theaters and cathedralesque office buildings yet love dabbling in paint? Does that make you an unfocused artist? No. I think it makes you an artist no matter what. You are an artist if you create something and call yourself an artist. If you sell or not is up to you and the market.

Does a bricklayer or fisherman give up being a bricklayer or fishermen when they pick up a brush or chisel to create? No. They are an artist. Maybe they aren’t professional like someone who has shows and exhibits but they are an artist and may even be better than a professional. Their inspiration probably comes from other sources as well.

I’d go ahead and say an artist, anyone for that matter, needs to find inspiration wherever they can for what they do. Then, they are an artist, even if the piece they are creating is a brick path trod without a thought by thousands daily.

There was beer this weekend as well. I’d say the Lost Coaset Brewery’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout is one of my favorites. It was great after a dinner of spicy kebab. This beer is art. The brewer is an artist and I’d love to know where they found inspiration.

There were other beverages like mead and White Russians but that Lost Coast Brew lingers.

Below is the latest offerings in my Redbubble shop. I’m uploading more all the time. Please check them out. Buy some, too.

I’m Spent

Test Days are over until the next ones. I am exhausted graded papers and regrading some. So today is short.

This weekend is looking to be interesting. There will be some art tomorrow afternoon at a friend’s gallery exhibit in Kobe followed by some beer. Sunday I can get some organization and cleanup done here. Then two weeks of elementary. Pray for me. LOL.

Knee Deep in the Week

So far it’s been an action packed week of crazy kids and new classes. I successfully started a new adult class and will now commence finding a way to make everyone happy all the time. The students are great but they are of so many levels and personalities it’s going to be a challenge. In regular school things are about the same. Got some guitar love in though!

No beer at home (in the fridge.) got to try something a bit more creative. Another White Russian? Yes. Another soothing White Russian.

Redbubble is moving into the summer and so the products I’m showing off will be lighter and summery. Appropriate, right? Oh, Redbubble will be offering new products for pets soon. I don’t know when though so please be patient.
