Short and Short

It’s late here, for me, and I’ve got a headache. I’ve had one all day because I should have worn my glasses when teaching and didn’t. Eye strain is a bitch.

So one: Saturday night’s beer was J-Craft Hopping Yuzufuwa IPA. I couldn’t find much on the company but loved this 6.5% beer infused with yuzu citrus. For those unfamiliar with yuzu, it is somewhere between grapefruit and lemon. It fits an IPA perfectly and I hope to find this brew again.

Two: more Redbubble. Check all these and more here. Code CYBER5 for just a few more hours to get up to 60% on different products.

Friday and the Beer is Back

Here’s the skinny. The end of the work week is here and I’ve got a beer for now. I’ll tell you about it. Tomorrow I’ve got a similar one.

The beer in question is BrewDog’s Elvis Juice. This fun little IPA is infused with grapefruit and orange. The bitter citrus really lingers reminding me of the grapefruit my grandparents used to have in their backyard…decades ago.

It looks like I’m going for as much of BrewDog as is available, and it’s true. I remember once upon a time I got to try their Tactical Nuclear Penguin. That was an experience with the small chocolate cup nicely going well with the imperial stout at the upper limits of a beer’s alcohol possibilities.

And Redbubble. We shan’t forget the fledgling shop I’ve been throwing designs at for over a year. Things are slowly increasing and hopefully the holiday season will be fruitful. For now, though, enjoy!

I’m Back.

I really didn’t go very far but I thought I’d say I was anyway. It was a bumpy ride home though. I almost spilled my drink. I wasn’t driving. I was flying. And it was just green tea.

Then, I went to work today and am exhausted as usual. I have a few designs though. The beer will wait (has been waiting) until Friday. I’m really looking forward to two IPAs. I’ll reveal them then.

Until then:

Kagoshima Weekend

No beer (or other alcoholic beverage) news right now. I’m in Kagoshima with family. We’ve been visiting old haunts and relaxing. I’m even letting go of the Redbubble shop for a few days. I did get a sale though.

We arrived with a more or less full moon and stopped for Kagoshima ramen on the way.

Kagoshima Kurobuta Ramen

My son and I enjoyed a bit of a local sand bath—you wear only a yukata and are then buried up to your neck in hot volcanically heated sand next to the shoreline. We were able to handle it for fifteen nearly transcendental minutes. It’s a great time for mindfulness meditation. There’s no where to go while weighed down by the sand. You can focus on each sense and let things go.

After the hot sand, my son ate two onsen eggs: hard boiled eggs boiled in natural spring water right next to the hot spring sand bath.

That’s it for now but more tomorrow as we return home and I scramble to be ready for work on Wednesday. I’m sure everything will be fine.

No Beer Friday

Well it’s not really a novelty. I’ve just got too much to do for the two IPAs in my fridge. I’m just going to drop a line here and show off the latest Redbubble designs in shop. I’ll be on my trip and hopefully will be back with some more (better) material soon.

Maybe I’ll have a beer this weekend. We’ll see what happens.

Wednesday Once Again

Yes, it’s that day. The day so grand that spelling it was never very important. And it’s a day I usually have very little to say about beer or alcohol since drinking less and more healthily. Today is no different.

I’ve got a family trip this weekend and will likely be drinking little to nothing the whole time. I will have something waiting when I return though.

I’ve got a few more Redbubble designs of course despite an exhausting schedule at work. Is it possible to burn a candle at more than just the two ends?

Something Something Chimay White

Keeping it short since I’m exhausted from teaching and got a new (used) sports book with all the rules. I did have a beer Saturday. I would’ve had more but a migraine from my poor use of glasses left me wanting to lie in the dark and do very little.

I went for something strong yet spiritual on Saturday though. I went for a Chimay White, the famous Belgian Tripel. Not much needs to be said for such a well known brew. I love the sweetness of tripels and dubbels. I think I’ll have a chance to have a few more IPAs next time but next time is still an amorphous future time. The beers are in the fridge though.

I’ve got a bunch more Redbubble designs though. Enjoy!

Friday Shouldn’t Be Like This, But It Totally Should

I left the house in the dark to catch a bus and train and get to school to prepare for four classes. Did things work out? Mostly. I felt like an abused substitute for one class but compartmentalizing my time keeps me from carrying any of that over to other classes—that and general professional maturity.

I rushed back to the resource center for an English festival with some truly inspired performances by students who have only been studying English seriously for a few years—a few months only in a few cases.

Then the workday came to a close as they all should and I headed to the Cricketer’s Beer Club for a lovely pint of BrewDog’s Hazy Jane IPA. I had the bottle a few weeks back but this New England IPA is even better on tap. I would say it’s in my top ten of beers.

I followed the BrewDog with a Tambaji Beer English Pale Ale. It’s a local microbrewery an hour or so north of Takarazuka. I like English pale ales but this one, though good and true to the style, had a bit more of a carbonation bite than I prefer. I would love to try more of their beers once the local beer festivals really get going again.

So it’s finally the weekend and I feel I’ve earned a rest. But Redbubble Needs attention and her are my latest designs. The funny thing is, my latest sales are in older designs from a year ago. It goes to show that some designs get quick and immediate attention and some slowly simmer.

I Won’t Call This Humpday

I’m sticking to the no-alcohol weekday for now. I don’t know about you all out there but for me, drinking on weekdays has just become too much. I get tired after a single beer and can’t finish anything I want to. So Wednesday isn’t Humpday. It’s not the high point of the week where I just roll down the rest the next two days to the weekend. I’ve got a lot to do in the next two days and will enjoy the weekend because of that. It won’t be from the stress of it all; it’ll be from what I get accomplished. I’ll know I earned the beer on Friday and Saturday.

Enough of that. I got a few more designs up on Redbubble with one the beginning of a new polka dot pattern. There’s a tweak of my most recent leaf photo pattern, and one final weird coffee design. Enjoy!

It’s Monday Again.

That’s not a bad thing. Everyone is fed. I’m getting some writing done. I’ve heard great news from a friend who will be on or host a show on NHK World. And the temperature outside is just right.

After Saturday, I had a headache and sore shoulders. My load to bear is always harder on elementary school weeks and the next month or so will not be different. So last night I refrained from beer or any other alcohol and rested. I’m good. I got some reading in: Sticks and Stones by Lewis Mumford if you’re interested. I’ve been reading a lot of economics recently (still in the midst of Nudge) and needed something a bit different. This book on American architecture and civilization is from the early 1920’s and the prose shows like a flapper’s legs whilst dancing the Charleston.

A fun book on sports—an encyclopedia if you will—is yet to come but I was expecting that from all the other shopping problems around the world at the present moment in history.

Redbubble is going strong now with pattern series unfolding and my Happy Hanukkah Menorah series complete. check them out if you like.
